Bike!Bike! 2020

Durham is proud to be the host city for this year’s Southeast Regional Bike!Bike!, a regional gathering for community bicycle projects like the Durham Bike Co-Op.

This year, Bike!Bike! Southeast Regional will be taking place during National Bike Month, May 15th to 17th, with an unofficial bike ride to kick things off on night of the 14th.

What is the Southeast Regional Bike!Bike!?

Bike!Bike! is a regional event organized by community bicycle projects like the Durham Bike Co-Op. It is an excellent opportunity to collaborate, network, and of course ride bikes with people from all over the region. It is also a space for participants from shops and related advocacy groups from the southeast to meet in a new city to put on workshops and strengthen our social network. The event will have informative panels, bike rides, and workshops, run by the organizers and participants alike.

Who can come?

Everyone! If you are passionate about community organization, social impact, addressing inequality, and increasing accessibility to cycling in your community, we would love to have you.

What types of workshops will there be?

Attendees organize and lead the workshops, so topic and format will vary, but they tend to be about anything that might concern community bicycle projects. In the past, topics have ranged from community-building and inclusivity, to starting a co-op and volunteer self-care. If you would like to host a workshop, you can enter details after registering. What ends up in the final schedule and when they happen will be decided by a community panel of Durham Bike Co-Op members.

What about food/getting around/places to sleep?

There are a lot of people who are going to be visiting from out of town, so in the spirit of community, we would like to have some of our local friends help us with this! If you have bikes to spare or a couch/room/yard to offer for people to sleep, please let us know with the housing survey below, so that we can increase our accessibility to those who are making the trip to our city.

How much is it?

Cost varies, but our suggested donation amount is $50-$100 for the weekend, to help cover the cost of hosting the event.
